Salem Township Compensation Committee

Request for Volunteers
February 12, 2003

On Tuesday, February 11, the Salem Township Board formed a Compensation Committee. The Committee will consist of three to five members with Dwight Shusda serving as Chairman. Salem Township residents are encouraged to volunteer for the Committee.

The Committee will review the Township’s current employee compensation practices and salary structure; identify competitive pay ranges and investigate methods to reward employees for contributions to the Township; review alternatives; draft proposals and make recommendations to the Board. A more detailed discussion is included in the February 11, 2003, Board package available on the Salem Township website.

Volunteers will be asked to commit up to two evenings a month for meetings and additional time to complete tasks in preparation for the meetings. Candidates should have some experience in one or more of the following areas: 1) internet / library information research; 2) government or business employee compensation systems; 3) employee performance management / evaluation systems; 4) computer skills. Proposed committee membership will be presented for Board consideration at the March meeting.

Please contact Dwight Shusda by e-mail (Dwight@salem-mi.org) or by dropping him a note at the Township Hall before February 25 if you are interested in serving on this Committee. Candidates will be contacted before March 4 to discuss their participation. When volunteering, it would be appreciated if candidates provided a little background information regarding their skills and experience. Thank you.
